tense moments for one family during this holiday weekend...after smoke filled their home in the 4900 block of merrimac fire fighters were called just before 11 this morning. turns out the fire originated in the kitchen... the family evacuated, and fire crews were able to get things under control quickly.... we're told the home didn't receive serious damage.
