Young Cancer Patient Runs Into Medicaid Hurdle Johnny Heath Corpus Christi News Blog

17-year-old Michael Vaughn has been battling bone cancer since August of 2014. Though he is technically in remission, doctors say he still has cancer cells in his body. Michael's Oncologist wants him to have a PET scan to see what the cancer cells in his body are doing, but his insurance, medicaid, refuses to pay for it because they say it's not national protocol for a child with metastatic cancer to have a PET scan.
